My mom told me this morning that a huge group of FSU and FAMU (the traditionally Af-Am college) students marched together in Tallahassee to do early voting. I was so darned proud I nearly broke down in tears there in the parking lot at my own polling place! Hooray for young people!
(A woman who had to have been in her late 50s shuffled by muttering 'this is the first time I've ever voted' and all I could think was 'about darned TIME, lady!!!')
I ran over to the HUB (the student union building) this afternoon to get a few pictures of the chaos. I had to run the gauntlet of people hawking for their candidates, and right before the door some volunteer for a local conservative candidate for US Representative was like, "So, are you going in to vote?" He then tries to hand me a towel with his guy's name on it, and while I meant to say, "No, I don't vote here," what came out was, "Not for him."
