Happy Family Day!

Yup, today was declared Family Day by the Ontario government, so lotsa folks get the Monday off to spend with their families. It's a made-up holiday, like the Banker's Holiday or whatever the heck it's called in August, put in place because a workforce with no long weekend between New Year's and Easter is not a happy workforce.

As Monday is Chris' day to home school the kids, Family Day made little impact on us last year. This year we decided to spend it on the Canal. First time we'd gone on the Canal this year, though the boys had gone skating elsewhere. I thought we wouldn't get to go at all this year (we didn't last year either) because it's been closed a fair bit lately. But no! Beautiful conditions, oodles of folks, Beavertails, and a fine time was had by all.

And then off to ninja_kat's for Valentine's Day cake and the boys' birthday presents! And seeing ninja_kat Jr!

Go! Family! Day!

Our next three day weekend? Memorial Day. No such thing as Easter/Good Friday/Easter Monday here unless you're a Catholic school kid (in which case they make you spend all of that Friday afternoon in church anyhow :\)

I'm hoping that by then whether or not I can get an extra day off and stretch it will actually be a question.
