Got curious about the guy who wanted me to write fic for him, googled him... and found out I'm nobody special to him after all. ::sobs distractedly, dreams of fanfic stardom fading::
Frankly, my dear Mr. Crawford...
Yes, there's an entire community devoted to this guy. Apparently he's been trolling around, mining fanfiction.net for writers to write for him, since the heady days of the Lord of the Rings movies. I am crushed. Crushed, I tell you!
On the other hand, skimming the community was (mostly) entertaining (really coulda done without the knowledge that the guy's apparently a pedophile!), especially the post where a fanfic writer got him back. Though, be warned, the pedophilia thing pokes up here and there too.

Date: 2010-01-18 06:15 am (UTC)I often feel a little twinge that other folks in fandoms I'm involved in go to meet-ups and conventions and I've never gone to a single one (and, unless one is held in Ottawa, on my street, I probably never will) because they all seem to have so much fun. They meet up with folks they only knew online, get to talk about wildly obsessive (but very fun) stuff, go to fancy restaurants, yadda yadda...
Then I read stories like this and feel like my non-participation does have an upside ;)
