Got the link from my dad, and showed it to Chris and Justin, both of whom loved it and both of whom said we had to show it to Daniel. Start to show it to Daniel and he says he's already seen it; the math teacher showed it at school. Which is very cool.

He also ends up staring at one of the bubbles and says, "That big one, that's China. See that big dip? I wonder if that was because of Mao."

We checked. It was. The Great Chinese Famine, 1958-1961.

I love my kids. They're even geekier than I am :D :D :D

...and so, not to be outdone, I'm going to study up on Chinese history.

Sadly, the icon is not mine. Wish I knew who made it; it was apparently on a "free for the taking" community.

I love this!!! Thanks for posting this. ANd yeah, that was a huge drop China had there. :)

You should make a post on how to raise geeky kids. I'd save it and memorize it or something. Seriously, do post on your parenting methods. There are times when I know I am messing up, and yet don't know what else to do. You and Cris have done a brilliant job, and I for one, would love to know how you went about it.

I love the stuff you do to teach them things. Eg: how you educated them on the ways of the world and the like. If this is too nosey, feel free to just ignore this, but if you are up to it, I would really appreciate a post on what recourses you used to educate then and the books you used and the like.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that most parents think that they are messing up. It's just that I *want* to do better than what I am doing right now. It's not the kids who are at fault here, it's me. Also I want them to be globally aware kids and I think you've done a brilliant job there.
