The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is not an appropriate movie to show eigth-graders. Too violent.

Total Recall, on the other hand, is a great movie that they should really watch when they get the chance.

I was about to say that "oh, back then, the MPAA were more lax in their standards about what rating what movies should have."

But then I remembered that Stand By Me was rated R, and that had four boys playing chicken with a train and then finding a dead body.

So. Um. Oops.
